Happy Thanksgiving 2020

Thanksgiving 2020

Good day to each of you reading this article for the month. I do hope each of you reading this article will enjoy the time spent in the up and coming holidays with family and friends.

Do you have a preference as to the season? Our preference is the fall with a nip in the air, leaves a changing to beautiful colors and holidays approaching.

In this hustling and bustling world, have you ever stopped and looked at the trees? The color is magnificent, and each tree has its own personality and shape. Many of the flowers are still beaming with color and animals are all about preparing their homes for the winter. Isn’t it amazing that we have flowers blooming in each season? God’s beauty abounds everywhere.

This fall is very significant in the United States for many of us will be going to the polls in November to vote in the presidential election as well as many state positions. We have been bombarded on the air waves with political ads and such negativity by all the candidates toward each other.

I have heard that the United States of America is at a crossroads and that this election may take us down the path of making America great again or making America a third-rate nation.

To our family, we know that God is in control and that he chosen our leader for the next four years. We are thankful each day for the freedoms that we receive, and that God will protect us come rain or come shine.

Thanksgiving to us is not a two-day holiday but each day we THANK GOD for all that he does, both great and small. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

The giving of thanks begins and ends with God for he is the giver and creator of all and each day that he gives us is to be spent glorifying him first. We enjoy the thanksgiving holidays but, as each year comes around, it becomes evident that the day after Thanksgiving has become blacker and blacker as stores open early.

In our city last year, many stores began opening on (Thanksgiving)Thursday evening to get a jump on the season for the customer dollar.

Sad but true, the Thanksgiving holiday in the USA use to be one of family and friends getting together and enjoying both days. Businesses were closed including banks and gas stations, so folks had to prepare earlier for those closings.

No more, for the sake of convenience and for the sale. As for giving thanks, well just a passing thought before eating the meal and the men watching football. And the ladies, cleaning the kitchen and then mapping the stores with the best buys and the times they will open.

Thanksgiving or giving thanks, how can that be when people are camping out for days at their favorite store so they can be first in line to get the best deal from that store.

Fellow Christian don’t take these rants but as observations on a day in the past that was intended to be Thanksgiving or Giving Thanks for all that we have received.

Please turn with me to 2 Corinthians 9:10-12 (NIV) Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Our Christian nature envelops thanksgiving daily and not just one day for we made rich in every way and, in return, be generous on every occasion so that generosity will result in thanksgiving to God who made us rich in every way.

As I close, Paul says that service that you perform doesn’t stop as supplying the needs but multiplies many thanksgivings unto God. In fact, generosity is the gift that keeps on giving.

May you bless God in all things each day and may your holidays be filled with God’s blessings.

Jeff
