The “Haves and the Have Nots”
Good day to you reading this column where we use the following scripture for America’s continuing problem of the government shutdown.
Turn to James 5:1-6 (NIV)Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.
Fellow Christian, we are in the last days before Jesus comes so, please heed these words for we now live in in a society where we have 2 classes—the rich and the poor!
The American president says we are living in a wonderful time and the economy is doing wonderful and yet we have all so many people not making ends meet, the choice of buying food or paying the rent, or paying a few bills and living off credit cards.
Before I get into the brunt of the lesson, I wish to say that I checked the national elections where the people in Virginia voted in a Muslim lieutenant governor and a 34-year-old democratic socialist winning the New York City mayoral election.
As I have written in previous columns, God is not amused when we have foreigners over our country especially those who believe in a false religion. This goes against the very first commandment and God let the Israelite people know this is wrong and their will be severe ramifications.
Again, who are we to blame but ourselves for we voted in our congressional members who, in turn, argue and argue and get nothing done in a government shutdown. By the way, these same politicians are getting paid while our other government employees get nothing! Such hypocrites and yet when election time comes around, they are voted in again and who is to blame?
So, think about this, their time will come and they too will have to stand before God and explain their greed for the workmen who cried out against you.
America, the land of the free and the home of the brave and can not feed the poor. I thought we grew plenty of food to feed all and we have all so many rich people who don’t think twice over an extravagant dinner and nothing for those who wonder where they will get their next meal.
As we turn back to the government shutdown, why can’t the President intervene and get Congress to come up with a solution so our government can re-open and get paid.
Take some time and read the above verses where the rich have hoarded their wealth instead of storing up their treasures in heaven.
Right now, the cries of the harvesters or government workers are reaching the ears of the Lord and our officials best heed this warning for the Lord will deal with those who are doing nothing.
Unfortunately, our people clamor for a king or one who will protect us in the time of trouble so God has given us a king, not a theocracy but a human king and look at the mess that we are in.
Look at Leviticus 19:13 where it says “Do not defraud your neighbor or rob him. Do not hold back the wages of a hired man overnight.”
As a double witness, turn to Deuteronomy 24:14-15 (NIV)Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns. Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor and are counting on it. Otherwise, they may cry to the Lord against you, and you will be guilty of sin.
Yes, our country has been blessed by God and we have all so many who have lived a luxury lifestyle filled with self-indulgence and with no regard for his neighbor, his workers or his fellow man.
And the conclusion, you have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you such as the defenseless and the poor for God calls this murder such as hoarding money, exploiting employees and living in self-indulgence to appease the self for this will reach the ears of the Lord and the day of reckoning will come as we will stand before the King.
In conclusion, we are to do unto others, to help those in need and vote in those who are to do the interest of the people and not be self-indulgent.
We need less government not more and to live as the Bible teaches us for it is far better to receive God’s blessings than his curses and to observe his commandments, laws, statutes and ordinances.
May God bless you in your endeavors and may you always Praise God from whom all blessing flow!
