Lot's of Snow

The Lord’s Way Isn’t Fair

Good day to each of you reading this column as, here in the South, we are experiencing a colder than ever winter with temperatures from 0 degrees to highs in the low 30’s and for us in South Carolina, that is cold.

This has been a cold winter as we recently got 3” of snow and yes, it was beautiful, but we had over 1350 accidents reported in the state even though we were told to stay off the highways.

Cold temperatures, frozen pipes and electricity going on and off – could have been worse as we will soon see a warming trend next week with temperatures in the 60’s. As they say, just stick around for the weather will take an abrupt change next week.

Before I get into the lesson, I wish to address the situation of ICE and the incidents in Minneapolis. Folks, of the many places for this to happen, it happens in Minneapolis where George Floyd died.

I am not making a correlation, just an observation where we have seen so much unrest, shootings and a very liberal city and state where the Bible says in Isaiah 1:7 (KJV) Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

America, has this what we have become, land of the free and home of the stranger? It is so sad to hear that we have paid looters and professional protesters who come to stir up trouble and strife.

Biblically, we have been warned of the “alien from within” who is an idolater, against God’s laws, commandments, statutes and ordinances and who is not willing to learn our language, pay their taxes and conform to society’s laws and lording over us by taking away jobs.

Moral soundness and righteous standards have been disregarded by all so many people of our society where “anything goes”, biblical laws are archaic, and God is not fair.

Simply put, our cities are becoming desolate and we are seeing less and less Christians in the city and heading to the hills. Is this any different that Sodom and Gomorrah where crime and sin ran rampant and the people were having the times of their lives.

I don’t know those who died nor their background, but I do know that America has been overrun by the stranger or alien and we, as Americans, are seeing the crime in the cities of the stranger. Am I judging? No, look no further than the Old Testament and you can draw the comparisons and ways that the alien should adhere to the laws of God first and foremost.

God has made it vey clear that we were all aliens and that we must adhere to his commandments, laws, statutes and ordinances as a people. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and we must now pay the price for we have many aliens who are evil and sinful.

The lesson at hand is found in Ezekiel 18:21-32 (HCSB) or Holman Christian Standard Bible: 21 “Now if the wicked person turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is just and right, he will certainly live; he will not die. 22 None of the transgressions he has committed will be held against him. He will live because of the righteousness he has practiced. 23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” This is the declaration of the Lord God. “Instead, don’t I take pleasure when he turns from his ways and lives? 24 But when a righteous person turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, committing the same detestable acts that the wicked do, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. He will die because of the treachery he has engaged in and the sin he has committed. 25 “But you say, ‘The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Now listen, house of Israel: Is it My way that is unfair? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair? 26 When a righteous person turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, he will die for this. He will die because of the iniquity he has practiced. 27 But if a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life. 28 He will certainly live because he thought it over and turned from all the transgressions he had committed; he will not die. 29 But the house of Israel says, ‘The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Is it My ways that are unfair, house of Israel? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?

As you read the above word of God, take the time to re-read these verses for God provides each of us with the correct way to live each day and to see that God’s ways are fair for all to receive his blessings.

The verses written in Ezekiel speak to today’s society more than ever for we have those who say that the Lord’s way is not fair and that they want to live in accordance to their rules.

As a society, we are seeing the detestable acts shown on television and the excitement for more to be shown on the networks. It seems just when we have seen or heard it all then another example comes about only to provide a momentary shock and awe effect.

Let’s face it, the Lord’s way isn’t fair because it gets in our way and effects our lifestyle. We would rather practice iniquity and take the dark side rather than do or say what is right and just. We have become a society where right is wrong and wrong and right and that the Lord is just getting in our way and daily routine.

The question that we face is if the Lord’s way is fair or would we rather stay the path of our way and take our chances? These verses provide the answer that the Lord’s way is fair if we only follow his commandments, statutes, laws and ordinances and then we would receive the blessings that He provides.

The alternative, when a righteous person turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, he will die for this. He will die because of the iniquity he has practiced.

How can a righteous person practice iniquity if he knows he will die and why would he? It’s as simple as the blessings and the curses for, in life, our Lord who is fair gives us this choice.

The same goes for America for the Lord says is it my ways that are unfair or is it your ways? Ask yourself, are you fair to God receiving all his mighty blessings or only when it suits your situation?

As I close, before God can bless America, we must first bless God in all that we say and do and then our nation will be healed. See 2 Chronicles 7:14 and may God come quickly.
