The Devil in Politics
Good day to each of you reading this article on the devil in politics.
This topic came to me recently as I was listening to various news programs on our cable network.
What is it about lying? Do many of these cable news shows and podcast think we are a bunch of sheep who cling to their every word and can’t think for ourselves?
Why do I touch on this subject? Simply, I believe there is a great number of Americans who are fed up with the lies that are so-called are feeding us. These men and women are looking out for No.1 or themselves and they could care less about you or me.
Fellow reader, our government is suppressing our 1st amendment right of freedom speech. We will soon see a time where we will be placed on a list as being too radical, too Christian, against some minority, offending someone.
If you don’t believe me, read the news, check the news networks or listen to those that are preaching one worldism.
You can count me in on writing what I believe he Bible and that is my book that I go to for my basis. For those of you that disagree on my writings, write me but it must be written with God first in mind.
Let us agree or disagree, but be it known that it’s our right to the first amendment and to be respectful to each other.
In today’s society in the USA and according to the U.S. Constitution – First Amendment | Resources | Constitution Annotated | Congress.gov | Library of Congress, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The people who wrote the US Constitution were very wise people in both wording and construction the document hat would last for centuries and determine our rights in this God-given republic.
Each of us is being bombarded with news whether it be real or fake news. The words, “fake news”, is constantly being used as we near the mid-term elections and those running will make promises, they know that they cannot keep.
I have come upon the following from
The Devil in Politics: Why Fear Works and What to Do About It | HuffPost Religion.
By the Rev. Dr. Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite, Contributor, Professor of Theology, Chicago Theological Seminary
As a Christian, I am outraged of this article of the person or people who wrote this article on the devil in politics.
This article begins with fear being on the rise in the US Politicians who stoke fear like Donald Trump who benefit in their poll numbers.
First, how has Donald Trump in stoked fear to any American citizen? If you were to ask me, who should be fearful? Simply put, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. Psalms 111:10 (NIV)
The next sentence in this article says,
Strength is not giving in to enemy-stereotyping and it is the only way we will defeat ISIS and the temptation it offers us to overreact.
Again, I beg to differ with you for the Bible gives us the correct way to defeat our enemies.
You say that strength in not giving in to enemy-stereotyping, then what you say differs from the 1st commandment of the Bible. Exodus 20:3 says that “you shall have no other gods before me and Matthew 4:10 says Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.
As a Christian who believes in each and every word of the Bible, I believe that the Muslim religion does not accept nor practice the 1st commandment in the Bible.
To say that fear works because it leads us into temptation is an assumption and my college professor broke down the word assumption which fits what you say.
You must not give Americans must credit for their thoughts for fear does not make me hate a person, but I do hate the sin for God gave man the ability to discern right from wrong.
The Bible has addressed the issue of despising those of other religions, the immigrant, the racial and the sexual. Each topic has been fully addressed in both the Old Testament and the New TestamenThe Bible has addressed the issue of despising those of other religions, the immigrant, the racial and the sexual. Each topic has been fully addressed in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
When turning to the quote, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Jesus asks. (Matt. 8:25), Jesus (as usual) asks us a good question. Fear is on the rise in the U.S. Politicians who stoke fear like Donald Trump benefit in their poll numbers.
Please explain what Matthew 8:25 has to do with fear on the rise in the US Politicians who stoke fear like Donald Trump and benefit in their poll numbers?
As one reads that passage and begins reading verses 23-27: Then he got in a boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciple’s wen and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and waves obey him!”
I call as a double witness in the Bible to the correct meaning in Matthew 8:26 which is Psalms 65:7, Psalms 89:9, and Psalms 107:29.
As for the Interfaith Religious leaders and to Rev. Tim Ahrens, may you be reminded that Jesus loves the sinner, but hates the sin, no matter what the sin is and no matter the size of the sin which includes the basis of the 1st commandment.
I would have hoped the Reverend would have read the following to his interfaith leaders:
Exodus 20:4-6 (KJV) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
You say that fear-mongering is on the rise, so I ask how do you correlate fear -mongering with Donald Trump and include the Bible. As bring in the devil, are you insinuating that Donald Trump or those who voted for Trump are of the devil?
How does one defeat the devil in politics? Let’s begin biblically with the following verse—2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Second, please read Deuteronomy 28 and after reading this complete chapter, you and other Bible-believing Christians will see that God has given each of us collectively and as a nation to either receive the blessings or the curses.
God’s people will come together when they love the Lord thy Go with all their heart and soul and their mind and observe the commandments, statutes and precepts
One must remember that God created Satan—You might believe this, but if you don’t, then how was Satan created? You are correct that Satan is a liar and the father of all lies.
What you didn’t say was that man could not defeat Satan or his adversaries by himself, but that he or she must call upon God to intercede. Ephesians 6:10-17 gives each of us on how to withstand Satan and his demon’s attacks.
Paul in Ephesians 6:10-17 takes it one step further by telling each of us to be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. We are urged to put the armor of God on each day which is the belt, breastplate, footgear, shield, helmet and sword.
The author says the following–The Devil is not pure evil, he is the symbol of the temptation within, the human struggle to be good in a broken and conflicted world.
Say what? The devil is not pure evil? To you the writer, is not sin evil? If Satan is not pure evil, then is he part evil? Is he mostly evil, a bit evil, some evil and some good?
If the devil is the symbol of the temptation, then we can all say “the devil made me do it” when we do something bad. To the writer, do you believe what you just wrote?
God says sin is sin and he hates sin! He has given each of us to do what is right and what is wrong—plain and simple and without any excuses. Sin is not measured as a little white lie to heinous crime for God says sin is sin and God hates sin, but loves the sinner who confesses his or her sin and asks for repentance and doesn’t keep doing it again.
As we veer back to the subject, the devil in politics, the answer is yes and he is a lion for in 1st Peter 5:8 (NIV) Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
The author in the article says that politicians like to portray themselves as “strong,” and those who are not willing to go to extremes to demonize others and even use violence, as “weak.”
My thought to take the devil out of politics is to elect men and women who are statesmen and not a politician. The difference,
“A politician thinks of the next election. A statesman, of the next generation.” — James Freeman Clarke.
George Washington
A statesman is he who thinks in the future generations, and a politician is he who thinks in the upcoming elections. — Abraham Lincoln
A politician is a man who understands government. A statesman is a politician who’s been dead for 15 years. — Harry S. Truman
And a final quote from the “father of our country, it is a maxim, founded on the universal experience of mankind, that no nation is to be trusted farther than it is bound by its interest; and no prudent statesman or politician will venture to depart from it.
Please pray that God gives you wisdom to discern right from wrong and choose a candidate or candidate in the upcoming elections to be a statesman who shares the same Christian values and wants to work for you, the people who put them in office.
Be self-controlled, alert and knowledgeable that the devil is in politics and he will devour as many as he can—let’s ask God to defeat the devil in politics.
May you bless God in all that you say and do!
