The Sixth Commandment – Part 8
Good Day to each of you reading this lesson on the sixth commandment.
God is so precise that when he devised the number system that we use in today’s world, that each mathematical number is a key to opening the scripture.
Let me give you an example of this precision as supplied by E.W. Bullinger—Number in Scripture:
Six is either 4 plus 2, i.e., man’s world (4) with man’s enmity to God (2) brought in: or it is 5 plus 1, the grace of God made of none effect by man’s addition to it, or perversion, or corruption of it: or it is 7 minus 1, i.e., man’s coming short of spiritual perfection. In any case, therefore, it has to do with man; it is the number of imperfection; the human number; the number of MAN as destitute of God, without God, without Christ.
At any rate it is certain than man was created on the sixth day, and thus he has the number six impressed upon him. Moreover, six days were appointed to him for his labour; while one day is associated in sovereignty with the Lord God, as His rest.
- The serpent also was created on the sixth day.
- The Sixth Commandment relates to the worst sin—murder.
- The sixth clause of the Lord’s prayer treats of sin.
- SIX is mentioned 199 times in the Bible.
Murder has become so prevalent in our society that we have become immune or even callous when viewing on TV, hearing on the radio or reading about murder.
The question is what steps have been put in place to confront the crime of murder?
God authorized the establishment of governments, delegating to man the power to administer His laws and authorizing the bringing to justice of the individual who violates His commandments. We, as people have zero rights setting a standard of personal conduct! God has given us the Ten Commandments as the standard of personal conduct—We can’t keep theses Ten Commandments, so we have to make our own to fit our world and throw the Ten Commandments out the door.
This is what has happened in the USA and you see the results—Let me go one step further—God has declared in the Bible of the type of punishments to be meted out to those who have violated any of the commandments. Judges be very aware and take heed for if you don’t, you will be held accountable! Judges turn to Numbers 35:27b (NIV) the avenger of blood (executioner) may kill the accused without being guilty of murder. In order to protect the person whose duty is to execute the criminal; the above judgment was put in place under the sixth commandment.
Contrary to popular belief, the Bible does not hold life cheaply. It’s a serious thing to take a life, and for the taking of life the murderer forfeits his life. There will be men who will continue to violate this law, for unless God’s laws and punishments are not completely observed and implemented, then our land will be filled with violence and crime.
Take the time to read Numbers 35: 24-33—Here is the perfect outline for man to follow, and, if followed, violence and crime would have a dramatic decline in our lands. It is this simple—It is best to be done and by God’s will, it will be done.
As for the swiftness of judgment, again God has outlined the timeline for the crime of murder. God has given us the judges for the crime to be tried, the penalty if found guilty, the two witnesses witnessing the crime or the person admitting doing the crime. So this brings us to lawyers—Why do we need them for these types of crimes? Why do we need to hire a jury? Why do we need prisons for cases where the person is found guilty? Barbaric, no—Are you saying back in the early days of the west, that our people back then were barbaric? Justice was swift and law and order restored to a troubled community.
The case was tried and before sunset of the day following the verdict the murderer was dead. So what is the effect? Man desires to live, not to die, that is human nature, to live. God knew this already so he gave us laws and judgments which would deter man form committing crimes.
Again, if you love me, you will abide in commandments, judgments and statutes. So, do you love him or do you not?
If only man would read, listen and learn from the Bible, then we would all benefit.
